Question

The current procedure is to be entered as the main procedure and then there is a choice to select it as a nephrology program or anesthesiology at DRG closure. However, the dialysis patient undergoes this procedure during any hospitalization that is acute - e.g., for bronchopneumonia, but is dialyzed 2-3 times during the week-long hospitalization - which is a BRPN patient but logically not a primary nephrology patient. At the same time, this procedure has to be reported as it is also a separately attributable item and therefore increases the cost of the hospitalisation. Note - this also applies to other types of dialysis not only 8r1211.
