We are launching the DR274 data interface modernization project
The Center for the DRG Classification System is launching an expert discussion on the proposed DR274g data interface. The goal of the project is to modernize the method of healthcare reporting, increase the transparency of the data submitted, and simplify its automated verification and processing.
The proposed DR274g interface builds on the existing DR274f text format and provides data in JSONL format. Each line of the file represents a single reported case. Related information about the patient, hospital stay, diagnoses, and procedures is logically grouped, and individual items have unique names.
The modernization removes the technical limitations of the original format, particularly the need to enter multiple values into a single entry using separators and to link data based on their order. Markers are placed directly next to the entries to which they belong.
For healthcare providers and information system vendors, the new interface is primarily intended to offer:
- a clearer structure for the reported data,
- the ability to verify data before submitting it,
- more precise feedback on a specific erroneous entry.
It is intended to enable health insurance companies and other data processors to conduct more consistent data checks, simplify automated processing, and improve the traceability of check results.
As part of the DR274 modernization project, a draft of the DR274g version is currently available, whichincludes: the DR274g JSON schema, a mapping from DR274f to DR274g, validation rules, examples, and documentation. The draft is available here: gitlab.com/cksdrg/dr274_json
The proposal will be presented on October 19, 2026, at an online meeting of the CKS Economic and Data Working Group, attended by all its members, the NCZI, the UDZS, invited NIS contractors, IS ZP representatives, and DRG Grouper representatives. Subsequently, the proposal will be subject to expert review. The form for submitting comments is available here: https://forms.gle/emDVqhb7GMjjAvBDA. Comments may be submitted until 2:00 p.m. on November 13, 2026.
According to the proposed schedule, the working group will review the draft from October 19 to November 13, 2026. The working group is expected to approve the proposal on November 19, 2026, after which the proposal will be submitted to the CKS Steering Committee.
DR274g is proposed to take effect on January 1, 2028, with the first healthcare reporting via the new interface beginning on February 1, 2028. The terms and conditions of the transition will be subject to approval. The presentation of this proposal does not change the current reporting rules via DR274f for the year 2027.
We will keep you informed about the next steps through the Economic and Data Working Group and on the CKS DRG website.
